Oh! I wish I had heard about the workshop in time to participate. Your comment about working smaller really resonated with me. I have the perhaps mistaken feeling that working larger means working on more important things, but my work really wants to be smaller.
Hi Clare! Thank you for your comment! Rest assured, the Altars & Amulets workshop will happen again - and now that you are a Saltee Goodness subscriber, you'll learn about it in plenty of time. I love your insight that our association that "larger is more important," is worth questioning. There are many different ways to take up space - and sometimes a small, focused piece can have a potent impact in a way that a large work doesn't. The key, of course, is to listen to what the work wants...and it sounds like yours is speaking to you!
I, too, experienced a deep creative release with our Altars and Amulets workshop! Like you, stepping out of the "professional artist" box allowed me to simply play, responding to any and all small objects that were flirting with me without having to think at ALL about whether my amulet and poppet were "saleable"--how very delicious!!!!!! And I'm so aware of how recovering my creative juiciness (which is ultimately my life force) is one of the deepest and most powerful forms of Resistance there is!

Oh this is sparking so many good things for me, Sara!
I feel it's all still dancing on the edges of my consciousness, but I know they're there.
Your journey into calling yourself a folk artist, bringing unlimited glitter, will spark many new beginnings ☺️ for all of us.
And new bedroom art.
Agreed - that a small project can mean it can get done! And more glitter in our daily lives too!
Thanks for another excellent thought-provoking newsletter.
Hugs from afar
